สมาคมโชแปง กรุงเทพฯ ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 16 ธันวาคม พ.ศ.2527 มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อเผยแพร่ผลงานของโชแปงให้เป็นที่รู้จักแพร่หลาย และสนับสนุนศิลปินให้บรรเลงบทเพลงของโชแปง โดยสมาคมได้จัดคอนเสิร์ตเดี่ยวเปียโน ซึ่งมีนักเปียโนทั้งในและต่างประเทศ มาร่วมแสดงคอนเสิร์ต จัดสัมนากึ่งปฏิบัติการ (Masterclass) สำหรับนักเปียโน ครูเปียโน และนักเรียนที่สนใจ และจัดฉายภาพยนต์เกี่ยวกับศิลปะการบรรเลงเปียโน อย่างต่อเนื่อง
ทางสมาคมยังจัดการแข่งขันเปียโนทุก 3 ปี เพื่อเป็นเวทีให้นักเปียโนรุ่นเยาว์มีโอกาสแสดงฝีมือ รวมทั้งเป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการซ้อมและแสดงเปียโน และยกระดับการแข่งขันเปียโนในประเทศไทยให้มีมาตรฐานเทียบเท่าการแข่งเปียโนในระดับสากล
นอกจากนี้ สมาคมโชแปง กรุงเทพฯ ยังเป็นสมาชิกของสมาพันธ์โชแปงสากล (The International Federation of Chopin Societies และยังเป็นตัวแทนในการติดต่อกับสมาคมโชแปงในประเทศต่าง ๆ

Bangkok Chopin Society was founded on December 16, 1984. The society aims to introduce Chopin's work and encourage pianists to perform Chopin's music. The society organised solo piano concerts by both Thai and international pianists. Organised Masterclasses for pianists, teachers and students and film shows about piano performance.
The society also organised a piano competition every three years. Provide young talented pianists the opportunity to perform, being the inspiration for the pianists to practice and perform and bringing the piano competition in Thailand to the levels of artistry and excellence.
Furthermore, the Bangkok Chopin Society is a member of the International Federation of Chopin Societies (IFCS) as well as in contact with the Chopin Society in another country.
